Police have published concerning footage depicting a driver executing hazardous drifting maneuvers on a traffic circle during an unauthorized car meet, putting watching crowds at significant risk of injury.

Court Ruling for Dangerous Driver

A 23-year-old from Southampton received a jail term of 27 weeks, deferred for 12 months, after pleading guilty to reckless operation of a vehicle.

In addition, the court issued a 12-month driving ban and ordered community service along with a rehabilitation program.

Details of the Incident

As stated by police officials, the recording was captured at an illegal automobile gathering in Portsmouth on 28 December 2024, showing the driver driving a pink BMW.

“This footage demonstrates the alarming moment when a reckless motorist skidded around a traffic circle at an unauthorized car meet, as crowds looked on despite the risk of serious injury.”

Wider Crackdown on Unauthorized Vehicle Gatherings

Officials stated that over two hundred violations involving unauthorized vehicle events in the area have been handled in just over a year.

Authority Comment

An officer commented: “Residents, motorists and our roads policing teams have had their fill with these groups of drivers selfishly taking over streets and car parks and we refuse to accept it.”

The officer continued: “These events are not only a total disturbance, but they also put themselves and uninvolved individuals at risk of severe harm.”

The statement concluded: “Our efforts will persist to prosecute these individuals and I trust these recent cases act as a warning: you won’t get away with it.”
