Three Shortlisted for Young Sports Personality Award

Announced recently

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the upcoming Young Athlete of the Year award.

The trio have been celebrated for their outstanding achievements over the last year.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a unprecedented innings.

Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The finalists were unveiled on a popular morning radio program.

This year's winner will be revealed live on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.

The show will be aired from 19:00 GMT.

Agyemang's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Football

A mere three months after her international debut, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She entered the fray to score crucial late equalisers in both the last eight and last four matches.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Afterwards, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the best young player in Europe.

She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"Being on the shortlist for this award is an honour," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

Littler's Profile

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in spectacular fashion as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

He didn't stop there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a proud moment for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and surged to prominence with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin came in second place in the run-scoring charts and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.

"I'm truly honoured to be nominated for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it encourages more young females to get into cricket."
