The Showrunner Discloses He Has an Idea of How The Apple TV+ Show Will Conclude... Currently.

Vince Gilligan never anticipated that the Apple TV+ show would become a breakout success. “God bless the fans,” he states. “I was surprised by the show being as widely discussed as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

Now that Season 1 of the popular sci-fi show reaching its finale—and a second season already in development—Gilligan and his team reflected on the audience reaction and whether it will influence the narrative path of Pluribus.

Regarding the Tremendous Viewer Reception

Anyone might to get distracted by the widespread acclaim and online debates regarding Pluribus. Gilligan, however, is striving to ignore the noise.

“It's like being constantly eating hot fudge sundaes and being in a state of bliss,” he says. “It's the greatest thing, but I get wind of it from others, and that's on purpose. I have never searched for my own name online, nor do I ever want to. It's not a lack of interest. It's a bottomless pit I know I would disappear down and then I'd be pooping in a five gallon bucket from Home Depot and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

Regardless of his concerted efforts, there’s it's impossible to ignore the extremely enthusiastic response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to accept it graciously and try not to let it influence the direction of the show.

“We make no attempt to adjust our writing,” says writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock. “Our storytelling is not impacted by what people are saying.”

“It's wiser to keep our focus on the work,” Gilligan adds.

The Big Question: Will the creator Know the Finale of Pluribus?

Considering the writers aren't taking cues by audience theories, does it imply they already know how Pluribus will finally conclude? Essentially yes… with some caveats.

“We have some potential directions about how the story could conclude,” Gilligan says. “yet we stand ready to discard a decent plan for a better idea. That philosophy has guided us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We throw stuff out when we get a better idea and I imagine we will be doing that.”

Then again, if plans fall through, executive producer Gordon Smith has a rather amusing idea to use as a backup.

“I constantly suggest that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and that's where they've been all along,” he says humorously, “but nobody's taking me up on that.”

Alternatively, one could always use the iconic TV endings?

“My dream is Carol to wake up in bed next to Bob Newhart,” Gilligan says with a smile.

Pluribus can be watched on Apple TV.
