The Gory Cartoon Film Ending That Stays With Fans
Out of every adult-oriented cartoon movies I’ve ever viewed, no other has remained with me quite like the fear-filled ending of a graphically gory as well as overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.
In 2015’s, this Spanish filmmaker crafted a dark, somber , often savage universe with several minor , forlorn glimmers of optimism.
While The Unicorn Wars appears as it came from a desire to expand animation further, the director stated that it was more an effort to express a global, multicultural message about “the common origin of every conflict.”
That message is communicated via a group of colorful pastel bears , obviously based on a popular series of lovable figures.
Maturing in a culture centered on militarism as well as the war machine, many of the bears are consumed by killing the mythical beasts, thanks to a religious scripture which states them they used to be masters of the woodland, before these creatures expelled them.
Others haven’t fully accepted the indoctrination, , prefer to try out substances and engage sexually outdoors.
In contrast to their friendly counterparts, these bright beings have visible genitals , clear urges.
For a particular particularly cruel, skeptical animal, Bluey, the conflict with unicorns transforms into a route toward dominance — and specifically to authority over his more tender, kinder brother the character Tubby.
The character acts as a tormentor and a seeming psychopath , and when horror dominates his unit and takes his teammates one by one, he seizes increasingly control on his own behalf, via progressively bloody, destructive ways.
At the same time, these mythical beings are suffering their own horror, in the form of a spreading, deadly beast in their forest.
“In the early stages, it feels like a comedy,” the director commented. “However it evolves into a more serious and melancholic movie. And in the finale, it’s a terrifying movie.”
Unicorn Wars commences feeling a bit like one of the more quirky features from a legendary filmmaker, that uncover a mischievous joy in permitting drawn beings swear, fire weapons, or sex each other up.
Subsequently it becomes closer to a more grim movie from the same director, with increasingly graphic violence , a palpable relation to genuine suffering of battle.
In the finale, it is a complete theatrical horror carnage.
The terror which makes this an ideal spooky-season viewing starts well before than that description suggests.
The Unicorn Wars is one for the most dedicated lovers of violence, for fans of intense movies who desire to view a movie they have not seen on-screen before, and who can handle a plot that pulls unflinching brutality.
See it in a dark room free from interruptions, and the finale will crawl into your mind and take up residence there.
