The British player reached the third round in three of the four major tournaments this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her remaining competitions this season because of a health issue she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to recover prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

Her upcoming training will include coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together again next season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round versus Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She again required a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Her movement was noticeably restricted in the deciding set versus Zhu because of a lower back issue that has been a concern at times this year.

These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 after a long gap since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.

She secured 28 matches in the current season and advanced to the semis in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.

The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig joined her in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
