Just as the recent storm hit the northern region the previous evening, the home side swept Manchester United aside at the their home ground. It was a emphatic 3-0 victory for their manager's side owing to goals from Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a performance that firmly established their title credentials as they consolidated their place at the league summit.

Successive Setbacks for Manchester United

This result marked consecutive league setbacks for Marc Skinner’s side for the maiden instance since May 2024, putting them a significant margin off the top team with their championship aspirations severely dented.

United’s capability to manage domestic and continental soccer with a limited squad has been a widely debated issue since they secured entry to the European competition. Reviewing the calendar, it always appeared this was the week that would seriously challenge this capability. Regrettably for the visitors, they looked tired from start to finish, the landmark win against the French side clearly having had an impact.

Tactical Shifts
