Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Exacerbates England's Injury Worries.

'Serious blow' for England as Atkinson is forced off suffering a hamstring problem.

The pace bowler increased the fitness woes of the England squad upon exiting the ground early on day two in the Melbourne Test in the Ashes series.

Atkinson pulled up with his left hamstring immediately following a delivery in his spell on Saturday.

The touring camp stated Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and was to take time off the field to undergo evaluation "in the coming hours".

The final Test in this Ashes battle in Sydney begins at the end of the week.

The visitors have already lost strike bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman with an abdominal strain on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was dropped for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the fourth Test to fill the void.

The county bowler improved at the MCG, claiming a couple of wickets during the host's first knock, before adding 28 with the bat among just a trio of England players to get into double digits.

Post a single over late on the first day, he returned the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of that over, he delivered a slower ball to Travis Head and promptly felt at his leg.

Atkinson was brought back for the Melbourne match having missed of the third.
