Around 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland woke up without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, bringing powerful gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Massive Ice Stones and Extensive Impact
Homeowners reported large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities announced that various areas across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams deployed to handle the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Storm Challenges
Meanwhile, nearly one thousand energy customers in Victoria also experienced energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Rescue organizations received over five hundred emergency reports across the region, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and flooding.

- Wyndham area - 179 calls for assistance
At one point on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 energy customers in the state were lacking electricity.
Climate Outlook
Humid circumstances were expected to linger along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was predicted as the wettest day, with ongoing severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both areas.
Safety Concern
Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, especially given the current weather patterns.
