Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the authorized announcement, "A strange encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of banned rituals and terrifying transformations echo through the obscurity." The plot presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret cult.
The adventure centers on "bizarre trials and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Transformations
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, probably the captive, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Bonus Content
Players who finish the adventure will receive an exclusive katana together with several items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Addition
This patch also introduces the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Collaborations
This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series formerly featured a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
